Vaquita
Bree Taylor
The vaquita, the world's rarest marine mammal is almost extinct. There is only about ten of them in wild or in world left. They are mainly found in the northern part of the Gulf of California. They also tend to stay near the shores and shallow waters but will swim quickly away if there is a boat approaching them. They have a large dark grayish ring around its eyes. There body however, is a lighter gray color.
This animal will go extinct if the fishery bycatch is not dealt with and eliminated. About one out of every five vaquita is entangled and drowned gill nets that fishers use. Thousands of swim bladders are dried and smuggled out of Mexico. It's illegal trade like this that is killing the vaquitas.
I never even heard of these but they seem cool to me. I like how you gave deep information on what the animals was and on how it is going extinct and what things are causing it to go extinct. But otherwise it was a good passage to read good job.
