The organic food business is growing, sales surged last year by 12.4% to $61.9 billion. But, most people that buy organic foods, don't really know what organic means. In 2014, a brand consultancy called BFG surveyed 300 shoppers and of those shoppers, 70% purchased organic foods while only 20% could actually define what organic means. Some of the health conscious shoppers and consumers choose organic over conventional products because of concerns with highly processes foods, artificial ingredients, the effects of pesticides, hormones, and antibiotics. According to a study by Pew Research, 76% of adults surveyed bought organic foods because of their health values, environmental concerns were at 33%, and just convenience at 22%. Although there is some conflict as to whether organic foods are healthier and safer than conventional foods, experts can agree that organic foods are here to stay.
I’ve always wondered about the importance of the quality of food and organic vs non organic foods. To me personally I think it's just a fab and seen as being better quality. I have looked into eggs and the claims on a lot of them. They word things in a way that is accurate but not an actual descriptive way of explaining the process of raising or growing organic products. I think putting a title of organic just gives people the chance to raise the price tag of the product. Even if organic products were better I wouldn’t understand how it could give better health benefits than non organic products.
