Groundwater Contamination

Groundwater contamination can lead to people and wildlife developing life threatening diseases and illnesses. There has been many proven factors that lead to contamination. These include septic systems, storage tanks, hazardous waste, landfills, and atmospheric waste. There are millions of storage stands that have been storied underground to hold gasoline, oil, and chemicals. Due to them being underground for so long they start to degrade and corrode, leading to leaks. Unfortunately some septic tanks are not designed or placed the right way causing the waste to leak at a much faster and unsafer rate. At this time there are thousands of abandoned and unregulated hazardous waste sites just contaminating the soil, which over time makes its way to the groundwater. As we all know landfills are starting to become a much bigger problem then they ever were designed to be. They are starting to fill up causing wreckage to our environment. But the buried landfills have also begun to crack and leak from being underground so long, leading to acids, chemicals, and waste being dispersed in our soil and water.
