Deforestation

Jonathan Granados

Deforestation also sometimes referred to as forest clearanceis the action of cutting down trees from a large amount of area.  Deforestation is a topic surprisingly a lot of people see but do not completely understand what is happing. Have you ever seen a large piece of land with nothing but the bottom of the trees still in the ground? and a big poster in front saying that a company is going to build a new shopping center or a new restaurant? How do you think that large piece of land was so perfect and alone? Deforestation is a serious topic that can cause major problems for us. What do trees do? About thirty-one percent of the land is covered in nothing by forest.  There is about 3.04 trillion trees in the world and everyday they cut down about 80-160 thousand trees. Most trees are used for paper it takes about twenty-four trees to make now ton of paper, Trees are also used for construction purposes, deforestation has always been a problem for us, Before our ansasters started colonizing here in the Unites States the US was covered in trees but ever since we have lost tress at record speed. Not many people understand the importance of trees for us, Trees are beneficial to us because they produce oxygen and they clean the Co2(Carbon dioxide) in the air and the Co2 is bad for us.Trees have various purposes not only for us but for other animals to, if we keep cutting down trees we will kill the biodiversity among that habitat and who know mabey even be the reason that some animals go extinct.

  1. Great blog post Jonathan. This has been a huge issue for a long time now, and you did a great job explaining that. You also did a great job explaining what deforestation is so people can fully understand it. I total agree with everything you said. Trees are vital to the environment and we need to limit the amount of trees being cut down and we need to definitely be planting more. Overall great job.

  2. Good post Jonathan. Deforestation is increasing every year. I believe this problem is also due to climate change. As climate change is happening, there are more wildfires, which also contribute to the destruction of the environment and, therefore, the loss of trees.

  3. I like your post. I never really knew a lot about deforestation until I started this class. Once I learned about global warming I started to research some other things and deforestation was one of them.
