Tropical rain forest being every year is calculated through satellite imagery. Since 1992 there has been approximately 2% annual loss in tropical rain forest habitats due to deforestation. With an estimated five millions rain forest species, between 20,000 and 30,000 species are going extinct every year. One of the big reasons for this is medicine, many medicines we use today are made from chemicals produced by both plants and animals. Scientists have only examined a small portion of organisms, with deforestation we could be losing potential organisms that may provide us with potential breakthroughs in fighting diseases and providing natural pesticides. The overall waste we do for deforestation could be hurting not only habitats but breakthroughs for medicines. Deforestation should be regulated to prevent the loss of opportunity in species and organisms. If we continue to proceed with the operation of deforestation we could lose balances in the food chain cause mass extinction.
