Hydrogen sulfide is from sewer pipes and manure piles which is called "sewer gas.” Also another thing that sucks other than it just smelling awful is that it is very toxic. It is actually the most harmful gas to the environment. This study about "sewer gas" is based on previous research by the same research group and they used a process called chemical looping. The researchers created a concept that make hydrogen sulfide into hydrogen. This concept is called SULGEN process. For the most recent study, the researchers have found that molybdenum improves the breakdown of hydrogen sulfide, splitting it into two different parts; which are hydrogen fuel and sulfur.
This article is a very well put together article that gives you a lot of information about hydrogen sulfide and what scientists are doing to take it out of our world.
