Metal and water don’t mix
Did you know that children with lead poisoning tend and are more likely to have lower IQ, ADD, bad memory, and impulsive control issues. This is a common problem among children being raised in Michigan. Especially in the city of Benton harbor. Which is the home to a majority of low income African Americas citizens. Who possess little to no ability in getting clean water.
Clean water is a vital resource that is often taken for granted by the majority of those who have it. Even some in America, the land of the great and free, don’t have access to such things. This enters the question of what is the government doing, much less than what are us as a people doing about it.
Well for starters we have organizations such as Red Cross that help provide “relief,” but when the problem is ongoing for more than 6 years it seems relief isn’t quite enough. This problem is stemmed from the lack of sufficient aid through state and country. When the water levels are 60 times higher than what is regarded as safe, there is an obvious and attention seeking problem that seems to get swept under the rug.
My point is that when we aren’t self aware, we don’t realize the things others are going through, and how something so simple such as our water is such a big thing. As humans, we poison things meant to help us and then proceeded to ignore the problems we caused. Our environment will continue to go on through the struggle but how long after we destroy our water will we destroy ourselves.

What lead to the water being affected in the first place?
