The term "land use" is used to describe the land that human has occupied/uses. It represents certain human activities that are happening at a given place (ex. agricultural, recreational, mining, industrial, etc.). In the United States, the major land uses are forestland, cropland, rangeland and pastureland. The land uses that are receiving a big part of the conservation treatment is soil, air, water, plant and animal resources.
Major concerns regarding land use in the US include erosion by wind and water, enhancing/maintaining the quality of soil, the quality and quantity of fresh water, plants health and conditions and wildlife habitats. Other issues that the local governments have to deal with is the locally unwanted land uses (LULUs) which could be landfills, power plants, factories, highways, etc. These can cause problems by taking up land that could be used for other, more environmentally friendly things such as parks, water conservation areas, protected animal habitats, etc.
Land use has a lot of issues when it comes to destroying natural habitats, taking over land that could be used for other environmentally friendly things and polluting the Earth. I believe that there should be a universal law that every country should have a certain percentage of land that cannot ever be touched. I feel like this would help with a lot of the environmental issues we face today.
